In its recently released annual study, “Trends in College Pricing,” the College Board ranked Vermont #1 in the average cost of attending a four-year public college. In an interview with Vermont Public Radio in response to the study and front-page coverage of the issue in the Burlington Free Press, Vermont State Colleges Chancellor Robert Clarke said he wasn't surprised that Vermont has the highest education costs in the country because Vermont’s higher education institutions receive the lowest amount of available state funding out of all the states in the nation.
